I got a response with some better photos. The body is a bit rougher than I initially thought. He said with the set of tires and wheels (third picture which i’d actually prefer) and take off the roof racks, he’d go for $6k. I dont know... I mean the think is a ‘classic’ but it needs a fair amount of body work. what do you guys think?

Unless they are throwing in their WIFI password and wife I’d say CP. If you are actually going to restore the vehicle back to classic market status then there is no such thing as a CP when it comes to purchasing, just volume of time.

CP. I’d pay about $4k or so. How is the frame?

Too much cancer for 6k. Not too much cancer to be beyond saving however. Or not. I think my definition of lots of rust has been skewed by my Capri and the SHO.

You have two choices. Sand the entire body down to reveal all possible rust. Treat it with rust remover/patch panels or fiberglass and repaint. Or drive it as is. I’d say CP at 6k and probably NP at 4k. Body work is easy and fairly cheap if you do all the labor, but it takes so very much time (about 4 months of constant labor to clear the rust and dents out of my Trans Am when I redid it).

id say theres no point in even touching the body work unless youre going to take it all apart and do it right.

unless youre just interested in a spit and polish flip job.

if the frame is solid and rust free, id take it for ~4k. no more. put it on a lift and check out the underside. if theres any rust to structural elements just walk away.

Borderline NP. You need to go look at it to verify the “has common rust.” line. I have a feeling what he’s showing is just scratching the surface.

Jesus. How does rust like that happen? I would run screaming.

I’ve seen better for less. Don’t buy it unless you don’t care about the rust/fixing it up (I can promise it needs more than body work) or are looking for a project. My 2 cents. If you’ve got cruiser fever just keep searching for the best one you can find

That’s a lot of rust. I wouldn’t touch it personally.
